Question about handing over business cards and brochures to the print shop?
Can you answer Shiva's question about printing?:
If you want a color print of business cards and brochures that you have designed, what software format should they be in when you hand them over to a print shop?

Good question. I do this for a living (Graphic Designer).
I always send .pdf, .ai (adobe illustrator) and .psd (photoshop format)…..never had one yet say that they needed a different or additional format.
My advice is to phone them ahead of time and ask which format they prefer.
Talk to the print shop. They can tell you what they expect. For digital printing, a .pdf is often a very good idea, most of the good printers can handle it. If you are wanting to go high end and have a 4-color offset job done (more expensive, usually done for large run jobs) then you really do want to talk to the print shop.
Also take a look at some of the on-line printers. Many of them have some very useful information, even tutorials, on how to prepare your files, and what file types they prefer.
