Whats the difference between silk screening and screen printing? Is one less expensive or easier to operate?

Considering adding to my emb. business and I am curious what the fundamental differences between silk screening and screen printing are, also, which is easier to use, more profitable, etc. Basically looking for pros and cons of each. Thanks

I believe they are the same thing.
For mass produced signs screen printing is the way to go. There are alternatives, like vinyl lettering, but it is usually more expensive, and takes longer to make each sign. But if you are only doing one or two signs, it is better to do vinyl lettering, because you don't have to etch the silkscreen, ink it, and clean it and all of that. Hope that helps….

Usually we use a silk screen to mount our stencils for printing. The stencils may be hand-cut or photographic. When people say screen printing they normally refer to the same "silk" screen, no other matters as this material is the only one that facilitates fine print results. It shouldn't be so expensive.

The two terms mean the same thing. It is a procees that involves burning a silk screen and then pressing ink through the screen, in the imaged area, onto a substrate of your choice.
