Absolutely! You pick up the phone book, talk to them, and offer what you have. I am a retired typesetter/photo lab expert. Now mind you i have been out of the business for years. But I found my employment by just going through the phone book and offering my services. Worked in magazine publications and general print shops. You just go for it. In my day, it was all mostly graphics by hand, not much computer. But am sure you know the difference.

As you go door to door, I think it might also be a very good idea if you have some art or design samples of yours to show. Having a good "eye for color" is very critical in the printing industry, so if you are able to demonstrate such a skill rather than just list it on your resume, I think you will be better off.

Also, if you have any samples that can demonstrate your proficiency with computer design, I think those would be important to present as well.
