Is there a creative way to print my own poster without the poster printing software?

Can you answer mrs_tetchy's question about printing?:

My printer doesn't have a poster printing feature. Is there a creative (clever) way of printing several pages and coming up with some sort of colorful 18×24 or larger decorative design to frame and hang?

In any image processing program (I use JASC Paint Shop Pro) you can edit the picture into 4 pieces and print the 4 pieces on four pages then trim the pages and glue them to a backing. In PSP there is an option on the File menu for print multiple images that allows you to scale and locate the image on the page. I can't check it this time of night because of printer noise disturbing others in the house, but I believe from stuff I have done before you can position the image so only part of it is on the paper and it will print only that part (bleed the image it is called in printing when you print without white borders) so you could size the image to 18×24 and locate the 4 corners printing each and trimming. This would save editing the image to 4 pieces.
Or use this site to convert your image to pages in a pdf file and print each page
There are also freeware poster programs
