Tried and Tested Printing Techniques

By Florante Cay

There are many developments, which have been made in the printing industry over the past few years. Actually, there are numerous printing techniques that has emerged due to these advancements. Most of the older printing techniques have been set aside or have become obsolete to make room for newer techniques.

However, even with these newer techniques, there are still many older techniques, which are still around today, and among these techniques is offset printing.

Maybe youre wondering why offset printing remains as one of the most popular techniques even though it is also considered as to be among the oldest type of printing.

Well, for one thing, offset printing is a traditional technique, meaning, many people have used it. Offset printing has given satisfaction to a lot of people and probably, more people are trying this one because of referrals. Most people refer this printing technique to other people because they have already tried this and it works!

Offset printing is an interesting printing technique. This printing technique can create different types of marketing, promotional or advertising tools. With this, you can create documents like posters, banners, brochures and more!

Offset printing usually involves two stages like other printing techniques. These two stages are the creative and the actual printing stage.

In the creative stage, graphic designers, writers and editors create themes and designs for your business tools. Here, all the marketing, advertising and promotional ideas are brought together to form one unique design. And when everything is done, then its time to proceed to the second stage.

The second stage is the actual printing. In this stage, printing experts use a principle where inks should never be mixed with water. This is often called as lithography, which is among the nine types of printing processes. The printing process will take long to explain, but Ill try to make it shorter.

First, printing experts put the images on plates. Then printing experts moisturize the plates using water. After this, the experts put inks on the plates. The water will cling to the areas without images while the inks will cling to the areas with images. Then the designs are transferred to rubber blankets, and after this, they transfer the images from the blankets to the printing surface (papers, plastics, canvases and etc.)

With these stages used by offset printing, it can create prints that you can be proud of. With these stages, printing companies are able to put different types of colors into your designs.

Offset printing is also an inexpensive printing method. Its no wonder why offset printing remains to be a popular printing technique.
